Rebecca Claassens

Practice Nurse / Registered Nurse

Having worked as a practice nurse since 2011, Rebecca was a welcome addition to the team with the July 2024 amalgamation with Civic Medical.

Qualifications/Experience

Rebecca has a broad range of qualifications and experience including Certificate of Pathology and Endorsed Enrolled Nurse in 2000 plus a Bachelor of Nursing at Charles Sturt University in 2004.

Rebecca then completed a Graduate Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health in 2011 followed by completion of her accreditation in Immunisation through the College of Nursing and Graduate Diploma in Primary Care Nursing at the University of Melbourne in 2016.

Bio

Rebcca grew up in the Blue Mountains and completed her schooling in Parramatta.

Rebecca and her family relocated to the Hunter Valley in 2007 and built their home in 2008. Rebecca loves the vineyards, restaurants the beach and general proximity of the Hunter.

Rebecca has spent 24 years in the nursing industry with extensive experience in acute settings in Emergency, Medical/Surgical and Palliative Care before moving into Primary Care and specifically General Practice in 2011.

Rebecca has spent much of her time working in rural and remote locations including Victoria High country, Albury/Wodonga, Tasmania and Singleton since 2007.

Career Interests

Rebecca likes to draw on her past nursing experience in the delivery of preventative heart education and care.

She is passionate about promoting health and illness prevention along with a special interest in all areas of Women’s Health and immunisation across a patient’s lifespan.

Rebecca really enjoys preventative Health in the GP setting and has a goal of keeping patients health and happy.

Personal Interests

Rebecca loves to travel particularly to overseas destinations, but camping is a definite no.

Cooking is a real passion especially if it involves family. Rebecca loves to collect recipe books and currently has a collection that almost outweighs her collection of shoes.

A mum of a daughter who is currently studying to be a midwife and Nanny to a very active Callum doesn’t leave much down time.

Rebecca is also a fan of a good movie or Netflix binge.

Fun Fact

Rebecca has 6 (yes 6) white fluffy fur babies. Rebecca is a bit of a Nigella Lawson fangirl, think recipe books and cooking show.
